Barneys busted student for being black: suit
A college student from Queens got more than he bargained for when he splurged on a $350 designer belt at Barneys â when a clerk had him cuffed apparently thinking the black teen couldn’t afford the pricey purchase, even though he had paid for it, a new lawsuit alleges. “His only crime was being a young black man,” his attorney Michael Palillo, told the Post.
Dude prolly had his receipts and the bag, and everything.
And he STILL GOT CUFFED
and people wonder why Black folks don’t trust any kinda system
They stopped him and asked, “how a young Black man such as himself could afford to purchase such an expensive belt?” They KNEW he bought it. They just didn’t believe he used his own money. How could he, a young Black man, afford a $350 belt. Aren’t they all jobless and lazy? He showed them the receipt. He even presented his ID and debit card. Security insisted it was all fake. Yes, even the receipt from their own cotdambed store. Because as we all know the only way Black people can have money is if we stole it from some innocent hard-working White person, right?
This is why racist stereotypes are harmful. Because they have real-life consequences for POC.
