Strange Days And All Things In Between

Where Seraphim Dare To Fly

This weblog is a place to enjoy, discuss and critique comic books, pop culture, (often NSFW) the sexy and the speculative fandom from a progressive point of view.

brashblacknonbeliever:

Step 1) Find a blog where a person of color (PoC) discusses racism. It doesn’t matter if they do it on a regular basis or not and it definitely doesn’t matter if they label their blog as a social justice blog. As a matter of fact, it’s probably best if you go for the blogs that are not labeled as…

James Van Der Zee’s photographic chronicle of the Harlem Renaissance and African-American life in Harlem during the 1920s/30s (source)

In these photographs, you will not see the common images of black Americans — downtrodden rural or urban citizens. Instead, you will see a people of great pride and fascinating beauty.

Just a friendly reminder to not put your change in the red buckets this year!
“The Salvation Army doesn’t believe that gays and lesbians should ever know the intimacy of any loving relationship, instead teaching that ‘Christians whose sexual orientation is primarily or exclusively same-sex are called upon to embrace celibacy as a way of life.’" - (source)
“Salvation Army Major: LGBT People Should Be Put to Death" - (source)
“The Salvation Army openly says that ‘practicing homosexuals’ aren’t welcome in their organization and they have lobbyists in D.C. and abroad who work to prevent gay rights legislation from being enacted." - (source)
“The Salvation Army does not only discriminate against gay and lesbian people, it also works politically against LGBT rights all over the world." - (source)

So while some of your nickels and pennies are going to hunger relief or “Christmas Assistance” just know that a large portion of your donation is going toward lobbying governments worldwide for anti-gay policies - including an attempt to make consensual gay sex illegal.

"I’m black and this doesn’t offend me at all…"

"As a Black person, I think you should be nicer…"

Yeah that’s usually the tale you’re dealing with white folks.

Boycott Barney’s

Disgusting

:|

Dude prolly had his receipts and the bag, and everything.

And he STILL GOT CUFFED

and people wonder why Black folks don’t trust any kinda system

No wait…

They stopped him and asked, “how a young Black man such as himself could afford to purchase such an expensive belt?” They KNEW he bought it. They just didn’t believe he used his own money. How could he, a young Black man, afford a $350 belt. Aren’t they all jobless and lazy?  He showed them the receipt. He even presented his ID and debit card. Security insisted it was all fake. Yes, even the receipt from their own cotdambed store. Because as we all know the only way Black people can have money is if we stole it from some innocent hard-working White person, right?

This is why racist stereotypes are harmful. Because they have real-life consequences for POC.
